I’d like to access the link you posted of favorite bistros in Paris but alas, we must be subscribed to Paris by Mouth. Does bring your subscriber count?? Help!!

France gets mustard seed from Canada and we’ve had a drought in the western part of the country where it’s grown. It’s been in the news here (Canada) since harvest time last fall. Climate change is the culprit per the agricultural experts.

Next up is sriracha apparently. This one caused me to stock up on a few bottles. A necessity in this kitchen!

As usual, brought Amora mustard back from my last trip. To quote a well-known chef … “I always keep a jar of Amora on hand, for nostalgic reasons, and for its fortitude.” Glad to know that I am not the only adult who craves Goldfish (Cheddar Xtrême).

Loved the comment about the Triscuits but dying to know… did your friend try the can’t resist combo of Triscuits AND cottage cheese? I’m also a big fan of Junior Mints (and you!).

Dear David I do hope you are feeling better. I am convinced we will all get “the Covid” at some point.

The apartment is looking wonderful bit by bit.

David, scallions and spring onions are perfect for your garden. When you buy a bunch cut off the root and stick it in some good dirt; or in a pot outside.; they grow fast, especially when temps are 50 F or above. Chives and regular onions do the same.

No need to fertilize and this MAY make Romain happier.

I hope you are feeling much better, we are in the thick of it now with my twin 4 year old granddaughters who both have it. 😞😜

I live the picture of Romain in the flowers! And homemade mustard-I can’t wait to try it! It looks so simple even I can do it, lol

Be well, keep us posted on the house.

Hello David, Michael and I just returned from Paris where we took our 14 year old grandson… his dream ! We were home 2 days and both adults now have Covid. I was shocked at how busy everything was - streets, shops, bistros..we wore our masks often but not always. Tried to take Tyler to shops we visited when we were with you on your gourmet food tour. 2017….we did a variation on the theme. Hope you are recovered. Your kitchen looks like it will meet all your needs and then some. Debby Kaplan

I so look forward to this newsletter - and today's was the perfect, Friday morning read with my [iced] coffee and toast. We were planning our 10-year-anniversary trip to Europe for the autumn, but decided to postpone to next year, and your insights on the current airline/airport staffing only confirmed we made the right choice. Whew! Excited (as you must be) to see your new kitchen, looks like it'll be done soon-ish :).

Right now, imho, isn't the best time to plan travel to France. The strike started yesterday at CDG and there may be more disruptions. Hopefully in the fall things will calm down, and airfares may become more reasonable too.

COVID! C'est domage. I finally got it too, travelling. I was particularly terrified (age and living solo) but it turned out to be a non-event. Sneezing, sinuses, but that's it. As my daughter-in-law, (PhD infectious disease) who knows a thing or two, commented: It's why we have vaccines.

I made your tarragon sauce. Delicious!

Fortunately mine was mild (I took Paxlovid) but I know people that had it a lot worse, so was gratified I just had a mild cold. However it is lingering and I seem to be tired all the time.

I'm sorry to hear that. COVID is a capricious beast, hitting everyone differently. I would not have tested were I not concerned about my friend, 102, who was experiencing shortness of breath. Sure enough we both tested positive! She recovered, though was in hospital for a few days. We both seem to have escaped unscathed. I have had 4 vaccines. I'm sure that boosted my immunity. You should get some rest, David. Stress is also debilitating and, COVID plus the apartment renovations, I'm not surprised you are tired.

Hi David, glad you recovered quickly and you got to enjoy your trip stateside. I'm a big fan of the pruneaux d'Agen as well! It was a warm compote of them, served over vanilla ice cream at Chartiers in Paris, that I always remember. Thanks for the link to your mustard recipe. Of course I will have to procure some seed to make it. My husband scored the last jar of mustard at our neighbourhood U Express last week!
