As a longtime staff food writer for a Gannett metro paper (married to a longtime restaurant critic) I really enjoyed listening to this discussion of cookbook writing and publishing. I spent many years reviewing books, picking out recipes and testing them, interviewing authors and collecting a library of books that still sit in my American house while I hide here in Paris (for the past 8 years). My pet peeve with the books I reviewed: poor testing habits. Some authors are meticulous, others haphazard. I really appreciated Kate's comments about learning an author's voice; what a talent! Great podcast.
I wish Kate was on Substack.
